Saint Paddy's Day
The Dog & Duck's Saint Patrick's Day party is an
institution in the Austin Celtic community, and the Bedlam Bards are proud
to be a part of this great tradition. We had a
great time at the D&D, despite the humidity playing hell with Hawke's
strings. The good folks at the pub know how to treat musicians (free food,
beer, soda, and water on top of pay), and they recognize talent when they
see it: The Bedlam Bards have already been invited back for next year.
Overload-a-con
April 11 - 13 2003. Located at Crowne Plaza Austin Hotel,
500 North IH-35, Austin, Texas 78701 This is our
first appearance at a gaming convention, and we’re looking forward to this
chance to explore a new venue and make contacts in the Austin gaming
community. Come hear our concerts and be sure to stop by our table in the
dealer’s room. Our first venture
into the convention venue proved to be fun and profitable. As we’ve seen in
other settings, our following will no doubt grow within the gaming
community. Interestingly, several of the leading figures of the genre
noticed your favorite bards; we failed to get Steve Jackson’s autograph, but
the world-renowned game designer didn’t forget to get ours. And you have to
love a gig with valet parking . . .
Oklahoma Renaissance Festival at The Castle of Muskogee
May 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, 18. Located at 3400 Fern Mountain Rd. Muskogee, OK. Phone 918-687-3625. Ah, the Castle of Muskogee--our home away from home faire. Will Somers, jester rextraordinaire, informs us that this is the year to put on your dancing shoes; in fact, he's had to recruit a second dance band just to keep up with the schedule. In addition to kicking up our heels at the Maypole, the Bedlam Bards will be singing naughty songs in the Black Boare Pub and sweet pretty music at an intimate forest grotto built at Cedric's request. In other news, the good steward of Castleton has had the masons and carpenters of the shire as busy as beavers building a beautiful new chapel.

For all you who thought that winter was a bad time to have a faire, check out Louisiana in November and December.
